Flush Casement Windows
Bespoke Flush Casement Timber Windows
Flush casement windows are one of the most versatile and popular window styles we manufacture. Their simple, elegant appearance makes them equally suitable for period properties, cottages, farmhouses and contemporary homes throughout Devon.
Unlike stormproof windows, where the opening casement sits proud of the frame, a flush casement window closes level with the outer frame. This creates a clean, understated appearance that has been used in British architecture for centuries.
Made to Suit Your Home
Every window we manufacture is made to order in our North Devon workshop.
Because each property is different, we can tailor the design to suit your requirements, whether you are replacing existing timber windows, renovating a period property or building a new home. Windows can be manufactured in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and detailed with traditional mouldings such as Ovolo and Ogee profiles or simpler chamfered designs.
Our aim is to create windows that look as though they belong to the building rather than simply fit the opening.
Traditional Appearance, Modern Performance
Whilst the appearance of our flush casement windows is rooted in traditional joinery, they incorporate modern features to improve comfort, security and durability.
These include:
- High performance weather seals to reduce draughts
- Energy efficient glazing options
- Robust ironmongery
- Secure locking systems where required
The result is a window that retains the character of traditional timber joinery whilst meeting the expectations of modern living.
Suitable for Heritage and Listed Buildings
Many of the properties we work on contain original joinery that has survived for decades, and in some cases centuries.
Where replacement is necessary, we can carefully replicate existing designs to preserve the character of the building. We regularly work with homeowners, architects and conservation officers to ensure replacement windows remain sympathetic to the property and its surroundings.
Timber Choices
We can advise on the most suitable timber for your project based on the property's location, level of exposure and budget.
Common choices include:
- Durable joinery grade hardwoods
- European Oak
- Accoya
Each material offers its own advantages and we are happy to discuss which option is most appropriate for your circumstances.
Glazing Options
The glazing specification can be tailored to suit both the property and any planning requirements.
Options include:
- Energy efficient double glazing
- Traditional single glazing
- Slim heritage double glazed units where appropriate
This allows us to achieve a balance between appearance, performance and compliance with any conservation requirements.
Factory Finishing
To maximise durability, we recommend that windows are fully factory finished before installation.
Joinery can be supplied stained or painted in a wide range of colours and finishes, helping to protect the timber from the day it is installed while ensuring a high-quality finish that can be difficult to achieve on site.
