Wood Chopping Boards
I hate to see waste. In our workshop we look to reuse all the wood possible before it becomes our source of heating. After certain projects we were can be left with short ends that would have little use for most joinery projects. Now and again we make chopping boards or serving boards. Typically we have ash or oak. These woods are best suited for serving food, cutting bread, serving cheese and chopping vegetables. Due to the open grain of oak and ash they are not suitable for raw meat preparation or when lots of juices may be present in the food. Below are some guide sizes, sizes may vary in length width and thickness depending on what we have.
- 228mm (9") wide x 346mm (13 3/4") long x 28mm (1 1/8") thick £20.00 each
- 90mm (3 1/2) wide x 150mm (6") long x 24mm (1") thick £9.00 each
These cutting boards are sanded and not oiled. If like me you like the wood to develop a patina I simply hand wash them. Don't put them in the dishwasher! If you do want to treat them choose an appropriate chopping board oil. I have used grapeseed oil. If you have allergies, please make sure the timber chopping board or the oil will not be an issue for you. All the edges are eased so they are comfortable to handle. The larger boards are suitable for general cutting and chopping. The small sized boards are ideal for preparing garlic or chillies, preventing contamination of the boards. Just to stress, these items are collection only from our workshop.
Please check on availability before visiting as these are an occasional, not a stock item.
